A program in the middle of the richest recruiting state in the country, in a stadium known as the Swamp.

FLA history
The Swamp
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville is built as a steep bowl that holds heat and noise, and the nickname reflects what a September afternoon there does to visiting teams as much as the crowd does.
Florida's home advantage has always been partly climatic: opponents from cooler states rarely adjust quickly to playing in that heat and humidity.
FLA history
Rivalries in every direction
Florida meets Georgia annually at a neutral site in Jacksonville, one of the few remaining rivalries played away from either campus, and closes most seasons against Florida State.
Because the state's three major programs are split across the SEC and the ACC, those in-state games carry conference prestige on top of local stakes, and recruiting battles run year-round.
FAQ
FLA history questions
Why is Florida's stadium called the Swamp?
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is a steep bowl that traps heat and noise, and the name reflects how difficult the conditions are for visiting teams.
Where do Florida and Georgia play?
At a neutral site in Jacksonville, one of the few major rivalries still played away from either campus.
Which conference is Florida in?
The SEC. Florida State and Miami, the other major in-state programs, are in the ACC, so those games are non-conference fixtures with rivalry stakes.
