The program that did not change
Across college football, 2026 is a season of upheaval. Michigan and Penn State have new head coaches, Alabama replaced fifty players, Oregon and Ohio State both promoted or hired new coordinators. Georgia did none of that. Kirby Smart is in an eleventh season, Mike Bobo's association with the program runs to a twelfth, and Glenn Schumann is in an eighth on defense.

Champions again, but not that champion
Georgia won the SEC in 2025, beating Alabama 28-7 in Atlanta, then lost the Sugar Bowl playoff quarterfinal to Ole Miss 39-34 and finished sixth in the AP poll at 12-2. It was the fourth SEC title of the Smart era and the second in a row.
