Kansas

The Bill Snyder rebuild

Kansas State's home venue is named for Bill Snyder, who took over a program that had a serious claim to being the least successful in the sport's history and turned it into a consistent conference contender. It is generally regarded as the most complete rebuild college football has produced.

Naming a stadium after a coach while he was still alive and coaching is unusual, and reflects how far outside the normal range of results that turnaround was.

Kansas

Manhattan and the Sunflower Showdown

Kansas State plays Kansas annually in the Sunflower Showdown, the state's main rivalry and one of the longest-running series west of the Mississippi.

The program competes in the Big 12 under Chris Klieman, and has kept the identity Snyder established: disciplined, low-mistake football that recruits players other programs overlook and develops them over several years.
